Chris
Koroheke

Chief of Māori Research Strategy & Partnerships,
NZAGRC

Chris is Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Wai, Te Rarawa, Te Aupouri.

Chris provides leadership for our dedicated Maori research programme. The vision of the programme is to support a future where science and mātauranga Māori come together, where the full diversity of Māori landowners, agribusinesses and their iwi, hapū and whanau can thrive along with a lower emissions sustainable food system built on a deep relationship of respect and reciprocity with te Taiao.

The NZAGRC seeks to be a trusted advocate, connector and research partner for Māori landowners and agribusiness to achieve their aspirations relating to agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.

Prior to joining the NZAGRC, Chris was AgResearch’s Urungi Māori where he worked to strengthen relationships across the Māori agribusiness sector. Chris has extensive experience building relationships with Māori entities, hapu and iwi in both central and local government sectors, in research, environmental and commercial areas.
