Senior Te Ao Māori Advisor,
NZAGRC

Roiana is responsible for implementing the NZAGRC's Māori research programme through identifying and fostering Māori-centred research partnerships. 

Roiana also supports the NZAGRC to deliver on its Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and ensure that the wider NZAGRC science programme has strong relevance for the needs of Māori.

Roiana joined the NZAGRC in January 2023 and previous to this role, she was a former Te Reo Māori and General Science Secondary teacher. She holds a BSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology from The University of Waikato. Roiana’s background has been in the public service sector working for her local iwi and hapū and upholding mana motuhaketanga.
